Morning Glory

This collection of work focuses on the relationship that defined my teens and twenties. Spanning the course of sixteen years, what this person taught me of love, loss, grief, frustration, and ultimately letting go is unparalleled in my life. I call this collection Morning Glory after the beautiful flowering vines with the ability to overwhelm and choke out a thriving garden in a matter of days.

Calendula

Calendula focuses on the defining relationship of my present. Grateful beyond the words collected here, this person’s sturdiness has unearthed the very best of me. Known for their ability to help a garden blossom, heal a wound, and brighten a bouquet, Calendulas are essential to growth. Without the companionship, patience, and love this person has blanketed me in, I’d still be suspended in winter.

Crown gall

In September of 2020 my mother was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer. Crown Gall overwhelms the roots, branches and stems of a plant with rough, woody tumors and this collection focuses on what happens to a daughter when she watches her mother battle death.

Garden Valerian

Garden Valerian can be medicinal, delicate, menacing, all consuming, and hard to control. This collection focuses on the necessity to reckon with, shed, and confront ideas, people and places that no longer serve you and your growth despite having lived a long life in your garden.
